I’m overall pleased with the rack. It’s very sturdy and feels secure. Bikes are super fast to load and unload. A few things I don’t like:
- when the ramp is stored on the rack, it rattles like crazy. I keep it inside my trunk when I have the space. Because I store it in the trunk, I don’t use the ramp regularly because in the time I get it out, I can lift my bike up. Probably not the best thing to do.
- the rack is very wide. It’s the full width of my Toyota Highlander when the arms are up. Folded down, the arms stick out a little beyond my car. I wish the arms didn’t exceed the width of the overall rack.
- the threaded hitch pin requires a 24mm ratchet. It’s a real pain to take the rack on and off. While it makes the rack more secure, it would be more convenient and still plenty secure with a non-threaded pin.
- the assembly is interesting. In addition to the tools listed, I recommend grease for all the bolts (especially the hitch pin). I read the weird cryptic instructions around torque when installing the arms as applying a certain level of torque to those. A torque wrench is helpful. And of course the 24mm ratchet.
Overall the value of this rack is good. I’d buy it again.
Very well made and sturdy. Put it together fairly easily but instruction for someone not mechanically inclined might be a bit sparce. Finish is very good.
Easy to asseble, works great! 400 mole trip no problems with bijes onecelectric and one road bike. A little heavy but it wirks perfect.
I really like the system. It’s easy to load the bikes on and off with the provided ramp. VERY secure. Parts all feel high quality.
A great bike rack at a reasonable price. My only complaint is that the assembly instructions were a bit difficult to follow because the illustrations were small.
